In the article it talks about how entertainment and social interaction are reasons why people use these websites. Whenever I get bored or even when I am doing homework I go on Facebook. It’s entertaining to see what statuses and pictures people are posting throughout the day. Its easier to interact with people on Facebook then it is face-to-face sometimes. You are able to comment and send messages to people that you may not normally talk to. It allows you to create friendships with new people.

Uses and Gratifications
I
enjoyed reading this article. In the beginning of the article they give background
information about how MySpace and Facebook got started. It’s interesting to
know that Facebook started out as being a college only social networking site
because when I decided to become a member, anyone was able to join. It’s
interesting how fast everything changes because when this article came out
MySpace was the number three most popular site and Facebook was number seven.
Now, Facebook has become the most popular social networking site.

Online Social Relationships
In the article “The
Quality of Online Social Relationships” it’s interesting to read about how the
media has changed the way we communicate. Right in the beginning it discusses
how people feel face-to-face communication is the best way for you to create
and maintain social relationships. There are so many online dating, social
media websites out there. These sites can be helpful, but you don’t get the
full effect as you do when you talk to someone face-to-face. The article also
discusses what people think email is most useful for. Today they say it’s only
really good for communicating people specific information, while relationships was
rated the lowest. It’s hard to create relationships through email. You have to
constantly check it and take the time to respond to new emails. Social media
websites have created instant chats where you are given the choice to send
someone an instant message, which has helped create faster responses between
the two people.

Introduction
Hello everyone! I'm a communications major and I have recently decided to
minor in child development. I'm excited to finally say that I will be
graduating next spring and I am hoping to find a job working in a preschool or
child care center. I transferred from Las Positas College last fall, making
this my third semester at San Jose State. I'm currently in the process of
looking for an internship that will allow me to get experience working with
children in a licensed facility. My hobbies included working out, hanging with
my friends and boyfriend, and eating delicious foods. I’m excited for the
future and can’t wait to graduate!
